El Monte Multi-Ministry Center
"El Monte" which means "The Mountain" was purchased by gifts from churches and individuals in 2004 and donated to WEC International. WEC International is a missions agency with close to a hundred year history and approximately 2,000 workers serving in about 70 countries, many within the 10-40 Window. ![]() The property (Link to Map) is 70 acres in size and located in the state of Morelos, just 90 minutes south of Mexico City.
Development Strategy “Our mission is to provide a retreat from the world where relationships with God and others may grow for His glory. Believers will be challenged and trained to carry the gospel to those who are still unreached.”
El Monte is designed to serve the local church in Mexico and meet the needs of WEC Mexico, whose vision is: “to help equip the church to make disciples of the unreached in Mexico and beyond.” “Come…” Retreat: It will be a place of natural and planned beauty. It will offer an attractive alternative to the urban settings from which most visitors will come. As Jesus often retreated to pray, this will be a place where guests can escape from the ruts of daily life and where people intentionally are turning from the world in order to draw closer to God. “…let us go…” Evangelism: It is interesting to note the word “us.” In Mexico the key to evangelism is friendship. A relationship built on shared experiences, trust, and growing intimacy, creates a place where the gospel can be shared with greater effectiveness. This will be an environment where love will grow in order that truth may be spoken. This center will be built on the principles of small group dynamics where, together, we can move closer to God. “…to the house of the God of Jacob.” Tabernacling: This word describes the dwelling together of God and men. It implies intimacy with God through union with Christ. This is the central purpose of El Monte, that individuals come into relationship with their Creator, fulfilling their chief end which is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. This will be a place of joy and worship. “…He will teach us His ways…” Discipleship: This value is concerned with the Great Commission, where the nations are discipled and taught to “…obey everything I have commanded you.” Changed lives will be our objective through an encounter with God. Personal holiness and the development of Christian character will be a key issue as the fruit of the Spirit is cultivated in the lives of our guests. As a result, disciples will be trained who can disciple others. “…The law will go out from Zion…” Missions: This is the final phase for those who have come in from the world and met with their God. It involves a return to the world with the wonderful message of the gospel. Though the ministry center is situated in Mexico, our vision is to ultimately impact the world. We want to see the nations flowing in to the mountain of the Lord as we await His return. El Monte will be a place of natural beauty, relationship building, small groups, evangelism and discipleship training, and missions mobilization, all to the glory of God. In addition, we want to be good stewards of our resources, building with flexibility so as to offer maximum use of our facilities. Ideally, we want to provide opportunities for ministry at full capacity all year round.
