"El Monte exists to serve and support local churches and missions agencies by offering facilities, programming, and resources designed to reach the unreached, train and encourage believers, and prepare cross-cultural missionaries."
"At El Monte, our visitors will be welcomed and well-served(1). Our heart is to see each guest experience a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ(2) through the beauty of creation(3), authentic relationships(4), the example of the staff(5,6), and the sharing of God's Word(7).
1.Hospitality: Christians are commanded to be hospitable. (Rom 12:13) One of the unique features of the El Monte Ministry Center is that we have a place to which we can welcome guests. Our aim is to make our visitors feel loved, safe, and “at home.”
2.Encountering God: God created man in order to have a relationship with him. This is the intent of the Great Commission and the heart of all we do at El Monte. From the moment our guests arrive, we aim to create an environment that will lead them to a life-transforming experience with God.
3.Beauty of Creation: El Monte should be a place of natural and planned beauty. It should offer an attractive alternative to the urban setting from which most visitors come. As Jesus often retreated to pray, this should be a place where guests can escape from the ruts of daily life. It should be a place where people intentionally turn from the world to draw closer to God.
4.Authentic Relationships: God created people to live in relationship with others. He uses others to challenge, teach, witness, and minister to us. We recognize the importance of relationships in God's plan for our lives and seek to promote these relationships through the intentional use of small groups.
5.Christ-like Integrity: This speaks to the heart of who we are; in our relationships with guests and with fellow staff members. The integrity of our lives speaks of God's work within us and brings him glory.
6.Model Spiritual Disciplines: We seek a deep and living personal relationship with God. As a means to this end, we will practice spiritual disciplines in our personal lives and model these to our guests.
7.Commitment to Authority of Scripture: We take the scriptures as our authority for faith and practice. Every area of our lives should be informed and guided by the Word of God.
